Dear Women

Last week, I was honored to received Golden Phoenix Award. An award that recognize women who make contribution in fields as diverse as business, entrepreneurship and social and humanitarian work. Yet, I wasn’t satisfied. I wasn’t satisfied not because of the recognition but the way people around me act, the way people around me criticized on the way women should look.

Today’s society continuously promote and recognize on women’s success yet as women ourselves we failed to respect each other. Everyday we open the internet and we could easily see petition on women right and gender equality. Yet we judge one another by the way we dress, walk, talk and even look. We were told that girls need to be taught about self-love from school but we judge each other for not looking as great as other girls. You’re known as disrespect in the corporate world if you do not put make-up to work and your attire is a pyjamas if you don’t put on formal wear with a coat.

Do we really need what the society claims for in women right and/or gender equality where we couldn’t even respect ourselves? The truth is, men judges us less than the way we judge ourselves. We shouldn’t criticize each other but learn to influence each other to be better, to educate each other and most importantly respect each other. We should always remember that we all have the right to choose how to represent ourselves in our own terms as long as we are confident, comfortable and respectable.

It’s a beautiful thing that we can be strong together, so let's not tear each other down. The beauty of humanity is that we’re all incredibly unique. The manner in which we do things, the way we look, our strengths as well as our flaws, shouldn't be criticize or judge by another. We shouldn’t forget to appreciate the beauty in each other.
